If an assignment is late it will be recorded and a form will go home with the student explaining why the assignment is late and require a parent signature. The goal of this is not to punish students, but to make them more aware of their priorities and encourage them to examine the consequences of late work.

Mr. Briggs wrote about it on his blog with weekly reader and Edmounds, the site that we used to get our information sent Mr. Briggs a free tee shirt and the students got postcards with pictures of sports cars.

The party was open to all students that completed their AR goals for the quarter. We ate fresh pizza, played outside and watched The Zookeeper. Students that did not complete their goals read a book worth Mr Schiller. The winner this quarter of the going above and beyond their goal in AR was Dylan, who read 307% of his goal.

We heard back from the makers of gummy bears today with our recommendation of pomegranate gummy bears, which “has been forwarded to the appropriate department”.

This week will be language arts testing and next week will be math. Students are expected to come to school well-rested and to have a good breakfast. Good choices for breakfasts are cereal, oatmeal or (a mr. Briggs favorite) eggs scrambled in a cup.

The advanced science club is open for all students that complete 5 or more badges in the science club. These three decided that they wanted to know more about the human body, and with a little help from Mrs. Opelt we learned a lot about the heart- by dissecting a few Coe hearts. It was a little messy, but no more than cutting up steaks. We learned about all the arteries, veins, atriums and ventricles.
